LOST TOUCH (WITH THE YOUTHS)
First recorded in January of 2012 as "Lost Touch (With The Youths)". A solo home recording in the Computer Room. Released for the first time on Gritty's debut compilation I'm Not A Musician (September 2012) as the 4th track. One of Gritty's favorite to play and a live staple - often abbreviated to just "Lost Touch". Gritty recorded a solo studio version at Love Magnet in August 2017. The G. Gordon Gritty Band recorded a live studio version at Pink Noise in January 2020.
The original lyrics: I lost touch with the young, ya. I can have no fun, ya. I'm a grown up now. But I'm still like them. Still like them. They talk like kids. 'Cause that's what they are. Not the cool ones though. I stand out and hear them talk about where they gonna go. Go to whose house? They talk like kids cause that's what they are. Can I sleep over? My parents are away. Let's drink in the basement. It will be okay. They talk like kids. 'Cause that's what they are. Not the cool ones though. Not the cools ones though.
Themes: Turning 21 years old. In college partying but coming to the realization that kids much younger are doing the same stuff.
